You can’t leave Belize without snorkeling at least once! Northern Belize has two amazing spots. Near Ambergris Caye, the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and the Barrier Reef offer an amazing array of marine life in all shapes and sizes!
Bacalar Chico National Park and Marine Reserve, a protected area to our north in Mexico, is only accessible by sea and a favorite of snorkelers and divers. It was once connected to Ambergris Caye, a major Maya trade route and the Maya dug a channel between the two, separating them.
This is another spot well known for marine life as well as the herons and egrets that live along the coast.
Snorkeling
We get an early start and pick you up at the pier nearest your hotel. We board our 23-foot skiff (see Fishing Info/Our Gear) and from there, the Captain and crew will chart a course for either Bacalar Chico or Ambergris Caye. Bacalar is, known for its incredible snorkeling, its array of diverse marine life, as well as local Maya history. Late morning, we move on from Bacalar, heading for the east side of Belize, Ambergris Caye, with a stop in San Pedro or Caye Caulker for lunch at a beachside restaurant. After a relaxing lunch, we continue snorkeling in and around Ambergris Caye and the Reef. At the end of an incredible day, we head home with some fascinating photos and memories of swimming in Belize’s incredible marine world! Don’t forget your camera!
This is a full day on the water, snorkeling in the two best areas in northern Belize. Stay in any spot for a while, then move to another, it’s your charter, your schedule… you decide when to move along, go exploring, or stop for lunch.

Bring your own snorkel gear or we can get gear for you. We carry a cooler with water – let us know what snacks or beverages to include. Lunch could even be a tasty beach BBQ if you prefer
