Getting to Your San Pedro Fishing Pickup: Golf Carts, Taxis and Meeting Points

Golf carts are the most common way visitors travel around San Pedro and Ambergris Caye, but you may not need one just to reach your fishing charter.

Captain Nato’s Charters provides dock or beachfront pickup for accommodations within our standard pickup area when sea conditions allow. Where you are staying determines whether we can come directly to you or whether you should meet us at an agreed location.

Do you need a golf cart in San Pedro?

Central San Pedro is compact enough for walking, but a golf cart becomes useful when your accommodation, restaurants or planned activities are farther from town. Taxis are also available, and some visitors combine walking and taxis rather than renting a cart for their entire stay.

If you are staying on Ambergris Caye for several days, renting a golf cart can make it easier to:

  • Travel between your hotel and San Pedro Town
  • Visit restaurants, shops and grocery stores
  • Reach attractions north or south of town
  • Get to an agreed fishing meeting point
  • Explore the island on days when you are not fishing

During busy travel periods, reserve your cart before arriving. Confirm delivery, insurance, fuel, roadside assistance, parking and whether bridge fees are included.

Renting from Aviz Golf Cart Rental

Captain Nato’s Charters recommends Aviz Golf Cart Rental, a locally operated San Pedro company serving visitors around Ambergris Caye.

Aviz can arrange golf-cart delivery or pickup at locations that include:

  • San Pedro Airport
  • Water taxi terminals
  • Hotels and resorts
  • Vacation rentals
  • Other agreed locations around Ambergris Caye

Four-seat and six-seat carts are available. Every person who plans to drive must carry a valid driver’s licence. Visitors can use a valid licence issued in their home country.

Before booking, confirm the total price, cart size, rental period and everything included directly with Aviz.

When Captain Nato can pick you up

Our standard pickup area covers Las Terrazas Resort and accommodations south of it, including San Pedro Town and properties farther south on Ambergris Caye.

Las Terrazas is approximately 3.5 miles north of San Pedro and marks the northern boundary of our normal pickup area.

If your accommodation is within this zone and has a suitable dock or beachfront landing point, we can normally pick you up there. Direct pickup always depends on safe sea conditions.

Your exact pickup location and time will be confirmed before your trip. Please send us:

  • Your hotel or accommodation name
  • Your preferred fishing date
  • Your trip type
  • The number of guests
  • A working WhatsApp number

Departure times can change according to the trip, tide and conditions. Use the time confirmed directly by Captain Nato rather than a general departure time found online.

See our complete Pickup and Meeting Location guide for more information.

Staying north of Las Terrazas?

Accommodations north of Las Terrazas fall outside our standard pickup area.

If you are staying farther north, we will normally ask you to meet us at one of the following:

  • Our dock in San Pedro
  • Castaway Belize, when confirmed as the more convenient meeting point
  • Another location arranged directly with Captain Nato

You can reach the meeting point by taxi or golf cart. A golf cart can be convenient if you already have one for your stay, but travel time depends on your resort’s location and current road conditions.

Contact us before the morning of your trip so we can confirm the best meeting point and allow enough travel time.

Send Captain Nato your accommodation details

Where is Captain Nato’s dock?

Captain Nato’s dock is located at the end of Nurse Shark Street, near the San Pedro International Ferry Terminal.

If you are coming by taxi, share this location with your driver. If you are driving a golf cart, ask us for current directions and parking instructions before leaving your accommodation.

Do not confuse the international ferry terminal with the domestic water taxi terminals used for travel between Belize City, Caye Caulker and San Pedro.

Beachfront and hotel-dock pickup

Pickup directly from your hotel dock or beachfront is available within our service area when conditions make it safe for the boat to approach.

Wind, waves or an exposed shoreline may require a different meeting point even when the fishing trip can still operate. If that happens, we will contact you and arrange the safest practical alternative.

Rainy season does not automatically prevent fishing. Trips are normally affected only when conditions become unsafe or unsuitable, such as tropical weather, sustained high winds or steady overcast rain that seriously reduces visibility.

Review the Booking, Payment and Cancellation Policy before reserving your date.

Golf cart or taxi—which is better?

The best option depends on your accommodation and what else you plan to do during your stay.

A golf cart may suit you if:

  • You are staying on Ambergris Caye for several days
  • Your accommodation is outside central San Pedro
  • You expect to explore the island independently
  • You already need transportation for restaurants and activities
  • You are staying north of Captain Nato’s pickup zone

A taxi may be easier if:

  • You are staying in San Pedro Town
  • You only need transportation once or twice
  • You are departing early and do not want to drive
  • You are unfamiliar with the northern road
  • You do not need a cart for the remainder of your visit

Neither option is automatically better. Choose the one that gets you to the confirmed meeting point safely and on time.

Before your fishing day

Use this short checklist:

  • Confirm your pickup or meeting point with Captain Nato
  • Save the location on your phone
  • Confirm your departure time
  • Allow extra travel time if staying north of town
  • Ask where to park if arriving by golf cart
  • Keep your phone available for WhatsApp updates
  • Purchase your Belize sport fishing licence
  • Review what to bring on your fishing trip

Not sure where your hotel falls?

Send us the name of your accommodation before booking. We will tell you whether it falls inside the standard pickup area and recommend the easiest meeting arrangement.
